Noel Shoe Museum Inaugural Gala, the Shoe Ball 2022

On October 25, 2022, the Noel Shoe Museum hosted its inaugural fundraising gala, the Shoe Ball, at the Doubles Club in New York City. A glittering, celebrity-studded evening that instantly became “the talk of the town,” guests embraced the playful “festive footwear” dress code and everyone danced the night away! Speakers included celebrated author Candace Bushnell and former New York Knick Charles Oakley, who noted his early sneaker deals and unique perspective on the cultural cache of footwear. At the same time, Vira Lynn Jones, Executive Director of the Museum of African Art and World Cultures, presented a pair of intricately beaded royal Yoruba shoes from Nigeria – now part of the museum’s permanent collection. Guests in attendance ranged from fashion editors, socialites and tastemakers; the room glowed with style, laughter, and energy. The evening was equal parts chic and jubilant – an unforgettable night that raised essential funds, captured media attention, and firmly established the museum as a dazzling new player in New York’s cultural landscape.
